Is there anyone out there that doesn't confess to criminal activity?
Especially when facing life in prison?  How stupid are you?
It doesn't matter how bad the crime is -- why do people confess?

Couple charged with molesting their children

Wednesday August 08, 2001; 12:52 PM
A Charleston couple was behind bars this morning after police charged them with having sex with their three teenage children. Penny and James McDaniel of 1606 Whitney St. in Charleston's Garrison Avenue  area were both arrested this morning on numerous charges that could bring them up to 55 years in prison if convicted.
James McDaniel, 36, was being held on $100,000 bond for the charges of incest and third-degree sexual assault for molesting his stepdaughter. According to
the criminal complaint filed by Charleston police today, the girl told officers that in January her father cornered her in her bathroom and molested her.  Police say that James McDaniel, whom they interviewed after the initial report of problems at the home, told them that his stepdaughter had also performed oral sex on him.

Penny McDaniel, 38, is facing two counts of third-degree sexual assault and was  also being held on $100,000.   In their complaint against Penny McDaniel, police say that while they were investigating her daughter's complaint, Penny McDaniel told them that she had performed oral sex on her daughter about the same time as her husband made his advances on the girl.   Police say Penny McDaniel also told them that she had performed oral sex on her two teenage sons.  Both defendants are set to appear before a magistrate later this month to determine if their cases should be presented to the grand jury. The children have been taken into protective custody.
